Food grade diatomaceous earth is a safe, environmentally friendly alternative to toxic commercial flea and tick treatments.
Diatomaceous earth is a fine powder composed of the crushed fossilized exoskeletons of microscopic diatoms. This is a remarkable substance that is a desiccant--it actually dries out the waxy outer layer of fleas and ticks, causing them death by dehydration.
In tests performed by the USDA, as well as a number of consumer trials, diatomaceous earth has proved to be an effective non-chemical insect control.
Food grade diatomaceous earth is also a wormer; mix it with the animals food and this will kill any worms or parasites.

Daily dosage for mixing with food or water:
Kittens--1/2 teaspoon cats--1 teaspoon
Puppies--1/2 to 1 teaspoon
Dogs less than 35 lbs.--1 teaspoon
Dogs over 35 lbs--1 tablespoon
Dogs over 100 lbs--2 tablespoons
Birds or Chickens--5% of feed
Can be externally applied--dust or lightly massage into the pets coat to discourage and destroy fleas, ticks, mites, and lice. Add to pet's bed as a further deterrent.
